This dragonfly died in some bush in perfect condition and so the boys thought it would be fun to play with. I'm glad they did. I love this photo.
I love that all my mosquito bites were edited out of this one. Ha ha! South Carolina mosquitos were not friendly to my legs.
So, if there is anyone I missed sending a Christmas Newsletter to, I posted it here as well. Plus I want a record of it for the future anyways. Hope you all enjoyed.
The Huntingtons in a Nutshell (A Poem for 2010)
Alex:
T’was a summer in Columbia he had.
When asked “Was the weather that bad?”
His answer is YES
And he will confess
He misses it not, is that sad?
He’s been trying his hand at some wood
And built quite the projects, they’re good.
Desk, shelves and some beds
Wall hangings, he dreads
Requests his wife makes grow; they should.
He’s ecstatic about education,
Home-schooling and similar situations.
And finding a way
To fuse learning and play
Has become his latest elation.
Ligia:
Pregnancy started her year
And homebirth came and went with no fear
Another success
And she will confess
T’was the best way to welcome her dear.
She loves being a mother of three
Though it is quite a handful you see
Raw recipes she’s trying,
While sewing, then the crying
Emanates from Thing One, Two or Three (Sometimes all at once).
Orion:
His big brother duties he’s taking
Quite seriously and sometimes he’s making
“Chrys, GO TIME OUT!”
He chastises and shouts
Because rules are for keeping, not breaking.
But surprises his mother he does.
To her heart he sure brings a warm fuzz
When he comforts his brother
And says, “We love each other.”
She asks “Why?” His response is “Because.”
Chrysalis:
Into a butterfly she’s truly transforming
Because every heart she encounters she’s warming
With the tiniest act
It is truly a fact
That the kisses her cheeks bear come swarming.
She had named all her dolls “Hinckley butter,”
Because she couldn’t pronounce “Hinckley brother,”
But because they wear pink
Daddy started to think
New names were in need from their mother.
So he asks as he points, “What’s her name?”
The look of confusion is what came.
So named them he did.
He’s a funny big kid.
She remembers each name just the same.
Hinckley:
And speaking of names, here’s the new one
Hinckley’s really a big ball of fun
With all of his wiggles
And smiles and giggles
We’re thrilled with our new Huntington.
That’s a wrap for Two Thousand and Ten
And we try to remember the time when
A babe small and wrinkly
Like our little Hinckley
Came to earth as Great King among men.
Merry Christmas to all. And have a most wonderful New Year! Love always, Alex, Ligia, Orion, Chrysalis and Hinckley Huntington.
